The week of August 9 to 16 brings a packed calendar for anyone following music, theater and culture in Bahia and the Northeast. With anticipated premieres, sold-out sessions and weekend performances, Mosaico Musical highlights events to help you plan your week.

In theater, one of the highlights remains the musical “Arrocha — Aceita esse musical que dói menos,” which closes another weekend of performances at Teatro Módulo (Avenida Professor Magalhães Neto, 1177, Pituba), in Salvador. The production tells the fictional story of “Rabo de Ouro,” the bar where the genre is said to have emerged, and has been selling out sessions this season as it approaches 6,000 spectators. At CAIXA Cultural Pelourinho, the exhibition “3 Obás de Xangô” remains on view after opening on August 6 at the institution’s new venue in Salvador’s Historic Center. Free to the public and inspired by Sérgio Machado’s documentary, the exhibition brings together more than 45 artists and runs through September 6. Press office: Duo Comunicação.

At Teatro Gamboa (Rua Gamboa de Cima, 3), audiences can find the recurring Thursday show “Cangibrina,” featuring Kléber Albuquerque and Vivi Correa.

The week’s major highlight, however, is the national premiere of the “Moraes Musical Moreira” tour on Friday (14) at 8 p.m. at Teatro Castro Alves in Campo Grande. Directed by Ana Paula Bouzas, the musical celebrates the work of Moraes Moreira, one of the major names in Brazilian music, and runs through August 30, with Saturday and Sunday performances at 5 p.m. Tickets start at R$25 and are sold through Sympla. On Saturday (15), Salvador also hosts Sarau VendaVall, a new literary event created by Vall Santos, at 3 p.m. at CamuCaju. Press office: Aryane Sánchez. The same day, singer O Kannalha brings arrocha to the eighth Festival Movimento Cidade at Parque da Prainha in Vila Velha, Espírito Santo, joining a lineup scheduled in the city from August 14 to 16.
