Arrocha Musical Keeps Selling Out Shows in Salvador, with Performance on August 8

A box-office success that highlights the strength and vitality of Salvador’s theater scene, “Arrocha — Aceita esse musical que dói menos” has continued to sell out performances this season, repeating the success of its first run. On Saturday, August 8, the musical returned to the stage at Teatro Módulo (Avenida Professor Magalhães Neto, 1177, Pituba), approaching the milestone of 6,000 spectators.

In the story, “Rabo de Ouro” — the fictional bar where the action unfolds — hosted major encounters during the rise of arrocha and has always stood against prejudice toward so-called brega music. Bené, the bar’s owner, receives a visit from two friends, Hércules and Mosquito, and their unexpected reunion sets off a series of surprising stories connected by a shared sense of human vulnerability.

Beyond the comedy, the production draws audiences in through its soundtrack and the emotional memory attached to major classics of the genre. Produced by Toca Criações Artísticas — behind the award-winning “Chame Gente” and “Bululú” — the cast includes Alan Miranda, Cícero Locijá, Danilo Cairo, Mariana Borges and Talis Castro, with a repertoire featuring songs associated with Pablo, Nara Costa, Márcio Moreno, Silvano Salles, Asas Livres and others. This season also brings a new feature: director Edvard Passos joins the cast as Hércules in two performances.
