Marcos Catarina Pays Tribute to Vander Lee in Final Teatro Gamboa Performance on August 8
On Saturday, August 8, at 5 p.m., Teatro Gamboa in Salvador hosted the week’s final performance of “De Irmão para Irmão: Marcos Catarina canta Vander Lee.” Singer, songwriter and guitarist Marcos Catarina, brother of acclaimed Minas Gerais artist Vander Lee, took the stage to celebrate his brother’s legacy in Brazilian music, ten years after his passing.
The repertoire brings together songs that have endured over time and become soundtracks to relationships, stories and memories, including “Românticos”, “Esperando Aviões” and “Iluminado”. Alongside interpretations of Vander Lee’s work, Marcos Catarina also performs original compositions and notable collaborations, including songs written with the artist he is honoring.
Teatro Gamboa’s weekly program also included CineGamboa, with excerpts from the film “Silêncio e Som — parte II” screened before each performance, and PapoGamBoa, a conversation between audiences and artists after the shows. At Galeria Jayme Fygura, in the theater foyer, visitors could also see Rita Rocha’s exhibition “Cor-de-Rosa Choque”.
Tickets cost BRL 25 (discounted) and BRL 50 (full price) for the in-person performance, or BRL 15 through Teatro Gamboa’s virtual platform. Sales are available via Sympla: https://bileto.sympla.com.br/event/123791/d/399633/s/2627390.
